Are you a singer, actor, or dancer in Chico or the Northern California region? We invite you to audition for O Favored One—a dramatic, original musical birthed in the heart of God and written by Andrew Burchett over the past two years.
O Favored One tells the love story of Joseph and Mary, primarily through Joseph’s eyes—his longing, heartbreak, and ultimate trust in God's leading. It’s an invitation for the audience to step into the story of Jesus in a fresh, deeply human way.

O Favored One invites audiences and cast members alike into a deeply human, heartfelt, and at times humorous journey through the eyes of Joseph. At its core, this musical explores love, trust, courage, and obedience in the face of mystery and challenge.
This musical brings together humor, heartbreak, romance, and revelation—with a wide emotional spectrum for actors, singers, and dancers to explore. Whether you’re portraying an angel, a townsperson, a parent, or Joseph himself, your role will contribute to a compelling and eternal story.
Hopeful Longing & First Love:
Joseph and Mary dream of their future spouses, meet, fall in love, and move toward engagement with excitement and tenderness.
Family Influence & Cultural Pressure:
They navigate the challenges of lobbying their parents and honoring tradition, while gaining eventual support from their families.
Relational Tension & Redemption:
A painful breakup and public controversy test their love and character, leading to moments of heartbreak, resilience, and reconciliation.
Divine Encounters & Spiritual Awakening:
Angelic visitations stir awe and surrender, as Joseph and Mary begin to understand their unique role in God’s larger story.
Journey, Opposition & Trust in God:
From the hardship of traveling to Bethlehem, to facing Herod’s threat, Joseph learns to trust God’s voice and lead with courage—no matter the cost.
